Tijuana, Mexico Mission Trip

Since 1990, more than 130,000 volunteers have participated in building Homes of Hope for the poorest of the poor in 23 nations. An Impetus team of 14 recently added to that number by building a home in Tijuana, Mexico for Yesenia and her five children: Lupe, Jesus, Liliana, Adrian, and Guillermo. Yesenia works in a factory and brings home an average of $85.00 per week.

A program of Youth With a Mission, Homes of Hope provides debt-free homes to help leverage families out of poverty. Conquering the perceived impossibility of owning a home gives a family confidence for victories in other areas of life, provides a healthier home environment, and hope for a better future.

Now, with adequate shelter, Yesenia’s family will be warm, safe, and healthy. Her earnings can now be used to purchase resources for other necessities. The family’s physical health will improve because of having a new cement floor versus the old dirt floor. The family’s emotional and mental health will improve due to feeling safe and less stressed. Overall quality of life will improve along with an increased feeling of hope for a better future.
